Rather than a reasoned analysis, this is frequently a bloke-down-the-pub, a bit full of his own importance, using a longterm fandom of Hawkwind as an excuse to ride on the crazed wild horse of their history. I could forgive it, perhaps, if it weren't for the inconsistency of style, the reckless approach to consistent punctuation and above all! Rereading this, I come across as not the person I am. I REALLY dislike this book wildly overpriced for pages as well ; I looked into the Amazon return policy, but there was no "I'd like to return it because it's rubbish" option, so I suppose I'm stuck with it. Avoid, avoid, avoid. At the time of writing we are in lock-down due to the Corona-virus outbreak. So the arrival of this book was extremely timely and most welcome. The band is well served by the author's obvious enthusiasm for the music and provides descriptive pros of every track and a summary of each album. Having read the book from cover to cover in 2 days i have re-discovered some lost gems for hawkwind space hawks download the Hawkwind Light Orchestra and the album 'Stellar Variations' which, for me, is an absolute highlight of the band's later career.
Bought this as a huge Hawkwind fan of many years x in search of space and can't tell you how good it is. Very very readableevery album studio and a some Live ones are given track by track treatmentlearned so much as well about the history of the band year by yearband member by band member. Thought it would probably give much more detail to the early classic albums and sort of whizz through the newer stuff but far from it.
Every track is given a detailed description and no punches are pulled. Currently on special offer as well can only say please buy and read if hawkwind space hawks download a fan of the Hawks. I guess this book is purely written for Hawkwind fans who are also completists like me who love this band and lap up every detail. Far from it! But clearly very well researched and written.
